I've been using this tool for twenty five years now. I gave them to friends who don't have wood planes or don't want to learn. With very little effort, I consistently achieve very good results on the edges of your wood projects. It just requires you to pay attention to which direction the grains are going so you don't plan against the grains, it's that simple. If you've tried to get a smooth, rounded edge on softwood, you know how difficult it is can be if you use a block of sandpaper to slightly round the edge. This planer gets the job done quickly and smoothly, even on the edges of the plywood. It's constantly taking up space on my desktop.
