Review on πŸ”‘ Dorman 99162 Keyless Entry Transmitter for Specific Vehicle Models (OE FIX) by Matt Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wonderful. it worked!

DIYers have had mixed results with Dorman auto parts so I was skeptical. Replacing a missing GM key fob with a 2011 GMC Sierra is costly (especially the remote start key fob), not only because of the key fob itself, but also because of the more expensive and time consuming requirement of having the dealer program it. Aside from having to fiddle with the module to connect it to the OBD socket under the dash, it was an easy process. BUT read the instructions carefully. You must be in the truck with the doors locked and the ignition on but not working. You have two minutes to reprogram all your fobs, including the need to reprogram the old one (if you have one). To ensure you don't just give it away to others, it only has three user sessions. Work from start to finish for five minutes.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
