I have a stool that I use in the kitchen and the cylinder on that stool has failed. I bought this replacement knowing it would add a few inches because I'm tall and can use those extra inches sometimes. My only complaint is that the old cylinder was VERY difficult to remove (and now I understand why many of these cylinders come with a removal tool), but that's not the fault of this product. And to be honest if I hadn't been disabled it probably wouldn't have been that hard to take it off and the handymen who made it for me (for other odd jobs) took it off in under a minute. This cylinder is very functional, easy to raise and lower (even with my weak, frail hands) and looks very nice thanks to its shiny chrome finish. It seems quite durable and I expect it to last for years.
