Worked on my 2001 Beetle AVH gas engine.

2001 VW Beetle AVH engine. The ohms on the fuel gauge wasn't exactly the same as my OEM VDO pump, so I had some concerns that the dash fuel gauge would be inaccurate, but the car seemed to learn the new settings after a short drive. Immediately after installing a new fuel pump, the fuel gauge on the dashboard initially indicated that there was almost no fuel in the car, when in fact it was almost empty. I wasn't happy but as another viewer said he found himself and is right now. As far as I can tell the pump is no louder than the OEM. Be sure to change the fuel filter! No seriously. You need to. It's cheap and not difficult. If you don't do this, you can shorten the span of the pump. According to a mechanic friend, clogged filters can actually cause the fuel pump to fail because it has to work harder. Be especially careful with the electrical connection at the top of the pump. In a 16-year-old car, the fragile VW plastic is about to break. I was super-super-careful and still managed to break the outer plastic on mine. It just wouldn't let go! But thankfully the tongue it rests on is in the plastic and hasn't been damaged. There are videos on youtube about the R&R of the pump.
