Almost instant failure

Bought two packs for my weather station. Luckily, I decided to test a few on my Bearcat analog scanner and one battery died within two minutes. He ripped off the positive cover and poured the lithium salt into the battery compartment. Luckily I was nearby and my scanner wasn't damaged. And thank God he didn't release all that energy from a full charge into a bright jet of plasma. I think it would now be safer to order cheap lithium ion batteries off eBay and risk a battery full of sand.
