Sabrent SBT-USC1K - useless

I purchased this unit and a Sabrent SBT-USC6M (six foot unit) to connect to the router's console ports. None of these work on a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista Home Premium. After investigating the problem and trying various methods, I contacted Sabrent via email and they emailed me a Vista installer for the device, which I couldn't find on the Sabrent website, by the way. I ran it and the installed device stopped working - once - and the installation package didn't reinstall the drivers. I've spent eight hours on this and now I'm returning both devices and am about to try the Best Buy device which another reviewer did well. Yes, Vista has issues, but that's unacceptable for a product in today's market. Sabrent should either ENSURE they have drivers that will install and continue to work, or not sell these devices, or at least clearly warn that devices have problems with Vista.

Pros
  • Serial Adapters
Cons
  • Slightly dented
