I ordered these ear tips for my Stratocaster guitar. Typically, these guitars have necks that are attached to the body with long screws. In my case I built the inserts into the case so I could use the mounting screws, also stainless steel. The inserts fit perfectly (I used my router to find and drill the holes and I used a set of bits for these inserts, also on my mill to install them) and worked very well. Note, however, that when using stainless steel screws with these inserts, be sure to apply some type of lubricant or anti-seize compound to the threads prior to assembly. Tight fitting stainless steel parts, especially this stainless steel, will literally weld together when you dry fit them! I used Johnson's Paste Wax on the screw threads for my guitar project to avoid staining the grease or oil on the wood! These inserts do not prevent their removal. There are no notches or ridges preventing them from unscrewing once screwed. They're meant to be set in hardwood and you usually never remove the insert in these situations, so they need to snap in somehow. However, if you plan on removing these inserts in the future, that might be a good thing.
