I couldn't screw the stem into the base. Luckily my husband was able to screw a screw into the base to open it up and then screw the stem into the base. It looks like there was paint or material in the base that prevented the stem from screwing in. I'm happy with them now, but for those contemplating this purchase, if you're not practical, you might want to reconsider. Just fix the product before using it.
