Really good headlight and battery

POWER: Most of these headlights require 12 watts of power. I have tested this with gauges and it is a true 12 watt light. So it's probably an honest 1200 lumen light. Many lights will claim much higher lumens, but that's about as bright as most lights ever get (there are many false lumen claims here and elsewhere. 100 lumens per watt is a good indicator of the truth about light output ). You really need a very expensive and specialized light to get much better. LIGHT: As for the actual light used, it's very bright and has good focus with some lateral spread for animal detection and viewing corners. Ideally you should mount it on the steering wheel so that you can turn the steering wheel and turn on the light a little when turning. This is a very comfortable and sufficient light to drive up to 20.25 km / h and even faster on open trails. BATTERY: The battery consists of six 18650 batteries in a 2S3P configuration, giving the battery pack a nominal output voltage of 8.4V. Many flashlights only use four 18650 batteries, so that's a plus. In addition, second-class batteries are often used in many rechargeable batteries. This seems to have a long lifespan, although I haven't fully tested it yet. WATER RESISTANCE: The water resistance looks good with proper seals throughout the lamp. I've lost a couple of batteries due to heavy rains as sealing batteries usually requires you to dry them out before electrolytic corrosion sets in. With this battery pack, the batteries are (almost) sealed in a large rubber case with only the power cable coming out. to the elements. A bit of silicone at the cable exit and it becomes really waterproof. This is a new and nice feature for me. BATTERY LEVEL INDICATOR: A nice feature is the battery level indicator on the back of the lamp: * Green => battery is charged. more than 2/3 charged.*Red => battery is 1/3 and 2/3 charged*Flashing red => battery is less than 1/3 charged Learn more. LIGHT MODES: It has the usual bright/dark/flashing modes that most headlights have. Bright is very effective. Dim is great for long battery life and also very useful for dimming the lights when someone is walking by and you don't want to blind them. With such bright light, the "Blink" function, which turns the light beam on and off quickly, is too bright to use at night, but it's good for cars at sunset when they can't see the bike in the dark . contrast light. COOLER: Some light sources have very poor temperature management. It looks like it has a good thermal path to conduct heat from the bulbs into the case, so the LEDs should stay cool and last a long time. The case gets hot when the lamp is on brightly, but cycling at any speed keeps the case well below 50C, so it's warm but far from hot. HEAD/HELMET MOUNT: I'm not a fan of that sort of thing. It's just a personal preference. If you use a headband to hold the flashlight, the elastic will be heavy and may not be very strong. I suggest you put a headband around your bike helmet and tighten it. This will hold the light more firmly than trying to make it steady when it's resting on your head. REVIEW: It's still early in general, but that's my light for now. I have a few different bike headlights, but the battery size, waterproof rating, and bright beam with good spot/spread make this my preferred choice.
