Review on Furnace Control πŸ”₯ Panel for All Systems by Mike Modesto

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The whole installation took about 15 minutes, everything works. I'm in the Chicago area and this is .

This is a review of the Honeywell S9200U1000. I'm a tech-savvy homeowner who's been building my own computers from scratch for years, so I knew it was just a motherboard, and a pretty basic one at that. Installation was very easy as the harnesses touched most of the wires and I just marked each oven wire with tape so I knew where to route them on the S9200. The entire installation took 15 minutes and everything works perfectly. I'm in the Chicago area and the temperature dropped to 36 last night so it took me another 15 minutes to check the fan on/off delay for maximum comfort. After setting the delay with the S2 DIP switch block (the DIP blocks have a plastic cover that I couldn't remove so I just used a toothpick through the plastic to swap them), I found a 60- Seconds delay for both ONs. The /OFF modes were the best. At these delay settings, the fan was not pushing cold air out of the front or rear ducts. A NOTICE. On the S1 bank, make sure to use the recommended settings in the manual once you find the OEM board number in the manual listing. (I learned on PC motherboards to take the # directly from the MOBO, not the manual. Believe me, it makes a difference!) One of the biggest pluses of this block is the number of error codes that the LED lights (Get the PDF manual online and see for yourself). It gives the homeowner a measure of knowledge when the furnace fails in the middle of winter and the HVAC guy is trying to tell you you need a new furnace! (We've all gone through this exercise, haven't we). ANYWAY you can at least tell it that the error code is flashing, the limit switch is broken etc, so why are you telling me to buy a new oven? So overall 5 stars for the device itself. Now for customer service. I timed my OEM board before removing it for any delays and noticed a 20 second delay between the thermostat calling and the flame igniting. The S9200 had a 50 second delay. The manual lists a dozen pre-checks after "Heat Request" so I figured new technology, more options, okay, that makes sense. (The OEM Council is 14 years old. As any IT guy/woman will tell you, that's old. Kind of like dog years.) So I decided to call Honeywell CS to double check. After explaining my question to two different people, I was told that they do not offer support for FCB. Non-contractors (HVAC people). It probably has to do with the responsibility of giving lay advice/instructions that could blow up their house. I understand. So keep an eye out for the landlord. yourself with the installation.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Some problems
