When I first got this, it was like this blurry, blackout, shelf-like thing. I didn't even read the instructions, but it was with SUCH relief that I realized that there were 2 layers of protective film on the product. Without the protective film, it is a crystal-clear piece of plastic. I've read some people saying it would make everything blurry, maybe they didn't notice the films peeling off. The company puts up little stickers that say "peel off," but you really have to look for the film and where to peel it off.
