Review on Zilla Mini Halogen Bulb for Reptile Terrarium Heat Lamps by Jennifer Jackson

I installed this bulb with a sock. You don't want to touch a halogen bulb with your bare hands. Oils and dirt/dust on the skin can reduce the efficiency of the lamps. It will also shorten the lamp life. The temperature of the piston was measured at a distance of approximately 13.5 inches during normal hours of operation. I measured the temperature with both a probe and an IR thermometer. The gun was about 12 inches away and aimed directly at the probe. At 13.5 inches, the temperature of my heating point (or hot side) is therefore a constant 135°. As you can see from my photos, I got this temperature on both devices. In my opinion this is a great product but it is one of the hottest. The lightbulbs I used at this distance. However, I use 2 for my 70 gallons and get an ambient temperature of 80°. I have the ability to adjust the height of my lights so it's not a big deal. If 50W is too hot, they offer 25W. I have 25 watts on the cold side, which I also measured (the one above the water plate). It's compact, which I really like. The lamp is also quite small. I definitely recommend them.
