Do you remember the Starbucks Clover mugs? The ones without a logo? They were only available for internal orders of the Clover system. I fell in love with this mug. It had a large curved conical shape, weighed about 18 ounces, and the inside sloped down from the thinner edge and got thicker. The mug was perfect, huge yet graceful, with a handle shape perfectly balanced and comfortable to hold. Starbucks did not retail it. I asked the manager/barista to sell me something. But he couldn't. (Full disclosure - I took one.) I was looking for a similar mug, but Crate & Barrel came the closest. They were about 17 ounces, which is plenty, but the grip and shape were slightly different. I did it. Three days ago I broke one of the two I had and in fact the box and barrel no longer carry it. I wanted to see if I could improve them. So I started looking for Revain and found something like Crate & Barrel but nothing like a Starbucks Clover mug. OK, I was ready to agree. Then I saw these Sweese stackable china mugs with the perfect handle shape. Stackable is amazing! I love it! 16 ounces is a little smaller than I'm used to, but not by that much. They arrived today and I really like them; Excellent balance and stability of the handle (this is very important for these large mugs). And I'll prioritize functionality over form, trading the nifty inverse curve for more compact storage. One star off because I would have bought them for 17 ounces per minute.
