I had to wipe the old hard drive from a bootable Windows XP to a blank drive for a Linux system I am building from two old systems and clone my wife's Windows 7 boot drive to her laptop ( because the hard drive fails) so that I can replace it with a new hard drive with the Windows 7 operating system and data transferred to it. Since these two situations occur at the same time, I've been looking for solutions to both problems and found this little dot in Revain. For the money this seemed like a good idea. I've just started formatting an old 80GB drive from a donor PC and it's working great. One thing I didn't mention in the description or other reviews is that there is a small blue LED on top of the plugin to indicate that data is being transferred or that it's working. You'll have to look down on it as it's too small to see otherwise, but it's a nice feature. If you work on your own PC or want to use an old internal SATA drive as an external hard drive for backups or (if it's big enough) as a really big flash drive. You can get pretty big 2.5 inch laptop hard drives that fit in the palm of your hand, heck you can even get cases for them, and that's the way to get a huge portable external hard drive for your laptop bag. After completing these two tasks, here's what I plan to do. Get a cheap 1TB drive for your laptop bag as my work laptop only has a 250GB SSD and fills up quickly. For the money you really can't afford, get one.
