Glad I checked out this to connect a new MacBook Pro (with four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports) via HDMI connect to my LCD monitor. directly than through one of those USB hubs. The cable does not heat up and transfers adequately to my LCD monitor. The only personal observation I'd like to share on this is that for some reason it only works with 3 out of 4 -x Thunderbolt3/. USB-C on my MacBook. It consistently won't accept video from a specific port on my laptop. Neither Apple rep nor I understand why, but I breathed a sigh of relief to learn that this is not an issue with any of my Macbook ports, ALL of which I subsequently tested in store (for video and USB storage/data transfer) . Apple: Having confirmed that there is no faulty hardware/connectors on my MacBook, I continue to happily use this cable for my desktop monitor.
