Review on Rada Cutlery R119 Knife Sharpener 3-Pack: Achieve Razor-Sharp Precision by Joseph Castillo

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too bloated and overpriced

I couldn't resist. With all the incredibly positive reviews, I had to try this. How nice to have such a simple and effective cutlery sharpener? Now that I've tried them, I believe there is one and only one compelling feature of these so-called "sharpeners". They're incredibly cheap. Not for the price, mind you. Seriously, they're nothing more than two four-cent discs artfully riveted to a piece of five-cent plastic. Even at a few dollars a piece, the Rada cutlery has to make a lot of money. They categorically sharpen NOTHING better than any other cheap product and much worse than many products that are only marginally more expensive. Think about it, what could the designation "R119" even mean? To me that means the creators had to come up with something that sounded like they were very advanced versions of many others that didn't quite get there. It's quite possible that the numbers 1 to 118 didn't even exist or didn't work at all. Number 119 is no exception. And anyway, why are they selling them in "packs" of three or more? You must be wondering. Spend a few extra dollars and buy a set of whetstones and grinders (from almost anyone) and learn how to use them. Yes, it takes more time and effort, but you'll end up with much sharper knives that stay sharp for much longer. Heck, I can get the same or a sharper knife in about four hits on a whetstone. Sometimes it's cheap. Not this time. Sorry, Rada cutlery. The cat is out of the bag. Or at least it should be. But no worry. This review will likely double your sales simply because the curious want to see if I'm right. How crazy is that!? Much luck.
