The battery lasted longer than the meter

I'm an insurance agent and I need a meter to determine where there is and isn't water. It does a wonderful job. I gave it 5 stars for its price and limitations. However, after not daily but regular use, it stopped working after a year. There is a lost star. The pad on the back was worn out and it just wouldn't read anymore. It turns on and I thought it was the battery so I replaced it with a new one. This didn't solve the problem. I bought another one because it's easy to use and cheap. I just wish it would last longer than a year. And I put the old battery in the new meter and it still has most of the charge left, so I'm keeping the new battery for future use. Too bad the battery lasted longer than the gauge. Now for those using this instead of a professional estimate, I would use this to conclude that you NEED a professional rather than using yourself because their equipment is MUCH better and more accurate, and even though your drywall is dry The problem is that your wood studs in the wall are most likely still damp and this gauge won't tell you that. It's a great reference book, but that's about it, a reference book, not a professional diagnostic tool. However, I will continue to trust him to tell me what I need to know for my work on a daily basis. Also, almost all concrete will show wetness, and most thin floors will look wet or lifted when laid on concrete. I don't like it, but I just use a control point, I know it's intact, and use that as a baseline and look for an elevation above it.
