DETECT MOISTURE- Determine the moisture content of softwood, hardwood and other building materials (like drywall and masonry) or check water damaged areas to see if moisture is still present. VISUAL AND AUDIBLE ALERTS - if you’re looking for the source of a leak behind your work surfaces, listen for the high pitch tones to give you an accurate read on where moisture is most concentrated or quickly see using the tricolor LED moisture indicator. DEEP READS - even without pins, this tool can read the moisture levels up to a 3/4 inch deep into the surface with an overall Measurement range of 0 to 53% for softwood, 0 to 35% for hardwood and relative readings for wallboard and masonry.Operating temperature: 32° to 122°F (0° to 50°C) @ <80% RH. EASY TO READ AND USE- Auto-calibrating, 2-inch diagonal backlit LCD screen and a 3-color LED bar graph, HOLD button, auto power-off function, out of range alarm and low battery, 9V battery included. FIRST STEP IN MOLD PREVENTION - by checking suspicious water stains with a moisture tester around the house, You can determine whether the area is wet (a perfect breeding ground for mold) or has long since dried.

Works very well and is easy to use.

I don't know how deep it goes through painted drywall, but I have a feeling it only detects moisture right at the surface. The reason I say this is because I don't think my bathroom drywall, which is painted the same as my room, has the same level of moisture in the drywall. Works best on wood and concrete in my opinion. Bare surfaces appear even more precise. UPDATE: I was looking through my reviews and came across this review. After a few months of use I believe there are inaccuracies in the…

I am a homeowner still wrestling with insurance agents over water damage/damage from 2020 Hurricane Laura. There are 4 moisture test modes: walls, masonry, softwood and hardwood. 12 installers checked all areas of my house in HARDWOOD MODE and gave completely false readings throughout my house. , and THE MEASUREMENTS OF THIS DEVICE WERE IN A FEW PERCENT OF ITS UNITS! 367 days of fighting and this device dumps insurer's #12 moisture readings. Extremely accurate and worth buying! Thank you…

Wrong readings on corners

I haven't read thousands of reviews and don't know if this was covered. I've used the gauge to find plumbing leaks behind drywall and found the gauge to be accurate except in corners where it gave me consistently false readings of high humidity. When I removed the drywall from a spot a few inches from the corner that the meter said was very wet (all the strips lit up and the alarm went off), the drywall and counter behind it were dry to the bone with no sign of ever having had moisture. . I…

Incredibly helpful. Don't buy a used boat without one.

I bought this to find out what's going on with the transom on my newly bought boat and I wish I had bought it before I bought the boat. In short, I installed the sensor when I noticed the chips were very wet. I didn't want to drill through the entire transom of my boat so I bought this instead to see how bad it was. Capable of reading through fiberglass on the "Wall" setting, this gauge reliably measures the moisture percentage, which changes as you slide across the surface being measured. It's

Does not detect moisture; This is bad for a moisture meter.

I've had it for almost a year but haven't really tried using it, so as an experiment I used a 5/8 piece of drywall and soaked the backing with water until it was paper was saturated. The meter couldn't see it in the wall setting, barely at 03% in the softwood setting, 01% in the masonry setting and nothing in the others. The water would have to actually seep through the plaster to the exterior surface to find out, which would be pointless until then as you could see the water damage. If the…

The battery lasted longer than the meter

I'm an insurance agent and I need a meter to determine where there is and isn't water. It does a wonderful job. I gave it 5 stars for its price and limitations. However, after not daily but regular use, it stopped working after a year. There is a lost star. The pad on the back was worn out and it just wouldn't read anymore. It turns on and I thought it was the battery so I replaced it with a new one. This didn't solve the problem. I bought another one because it's easy to use and cheap. I just…
