I bought this to find out what's going on with the transom on my newly bought boat and I wish I had bought it before I bought the boat. In short, I installed the sensor when I noticed the chips were very wet. I didn't want to drill through the entire transom of my boat so I bought this instead to see how bad it was. Capable of reading through fiberglass on the "Wall" setting, this gauge reliably measures the moisture percentage, which changes as you slide across the surface being measured. It's 100% better than trying to do a tap test to see if the mirror gets wet, especially if you are a first time buyer and don't know how to tell the difference between dry and wet. If you are looking for a boat I would highly recommend this switch. It also works with a real structure like a house. I needed good news so I checked the whole house and thank goodness my walls were dry. Now to figure out how to dry this crossbar. . . .
