I wanted a fisheye lens for my lens collection. I already have two Sigma lenses and love them for the quality and lower price compared to Canon lenses. I wanted to get a Sigma fisheye lens but couldn't bring myself to pay up to $700 for a lens that I probably didn't want to use very often. That's why I bought this lens and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. One of the biggest doubts I had when purchasing this lens was that it only had manual focus. But now after using it, it's not a problem at all. The focus guide only moves from 0.3m to 1.5m before reaching infinity. So if your subject is more than 2m away, focusing becomes easier than autofocus, and if you're between 0.3m and 1.5m you can usually guess pretty close to the actual distance, and leave the wide one DOF make the difference. The ability to briefly switch to live view and zoom in to focus properly also helped with focusing, as the viewfinder has such small objects due to the wide angle. As such it was easy to use and a great addition to my collection. Two things to note. Another thing that drew me to the Sigma Fisheye is the minimum focusing distance (3/4β³ from the front element). This lens doesn't even come close. I was looking forward to taking some close-up shots of various subjects, but I won't be able to with this lens. But who knows, maybe I'll try it with extension tubes or something. I haven't finished the experiment yet. :) Another thing is a highlight. This doesn't really bother me, especially since it's a fisheye lens and most of the photos I take are rather artistic anyway, lens flare can add a bit of creativity to the photo. But you should be aware of this, as this lens is very sensitive to stray light.
