The gas must be turned on before ignition.
Works fine, flooded and immediately caught fire. No issues except that the handle is a bit awkward to hold when lighting. It stays on until you turn off the gas to the side. Maybe the only really bad thing about it is that you have to make sure you turn the gas off.
