Don't buy if you want sand, grit, shells or anything small in it. It is hollow throughout so nothing small will fit inside.
It's really empty, so if my fiancé wants to put sand and shells in it, it's impossible. The piece has no bottom, so you just can't fill it if you're advertising it's hollow throughout. :(.
