I have axolotls in my tank as well as a few coldwater fish and this is great for making sure my temperature isn't creeping up without my knowledge. The alarm goes off first after a temperature is detected outside of the programmed range, and then periodically until the temperature is brought within range. I found it extremely easy to set up and the temperature and humidity readings are fairly accurate. Another trick is that you can set the sensor to roughly the level at which you want to get evaporation alerts (cold water tanks are cooled by evaporation, so water levels drop quickly) and if the sensor comes into contact with dry air, the will work air temperature . Alarm as long as the room temperature is higher than the alarm. Highly recommended!
