Works as advertised

UPDATED 6/1/18 So I'll put 2 reviews here. 1 on the merits of the machine and how well it works, and one based on my own opinion and personal needs. Functional review: Pros: This thing does exactly what it says on the tin. It cuts 3/8 effectively, I didn't have to use it for anything thicker, but other people have said it will, albeit with difficulty. I've done several different art projects with him and I'm happy with him. It's a no-frills machine, but it works. Well then, cons: Replacing consumables is EXPENSIVE. Compared to more expensive plasma cutter consumables, they are very poor and burn out fairly quickly. It's partly my fault if I shake and do double bows, but even if I don't shake, they burn out quickly. Also, the gun began to fail after about 6 months of use, the trigger breaks and does not stop the flow of air. *Edit* Apparently they now sell universal consumables on Revain, I haven't tried them, but the extremely low cost should be beneficial to anyone looking to purchase this item. Rating based on personal needs/opinions: If you are a beginner or rock a crowd, I do not recommend buying this machine. Spend $100 more and buy the pilot bow version so you can use the rails and posts. I end up having to do just that because I shake too much to use this machine by hand (I make double bows a lot) and given the expensive replacement consumables, it just isn't viable for me to keep using this machine. . However, since this has nothing to do with the functionality of the machine and only concerns my personal concerns, it should not be part of the actual evaluation of the machine. Just a few thoughts from someone who has been using it for a while. Final thought, if you are new to plasma cutting and need a cheap one, I recommend it. This is a great machine for a garage/weekend project BUT it should be a beginner plasma cutter. That's more than enough if you use it occasionally, but if you do art, do a lot of editing, or do something more versatile then save your money and get a better brand, or at least spend the extra $100. and get the pilot arc version.
