My new favorite radio

Received this radio only yesterday but was so pleasantly surprised that I'm now writing this review with my first impressions. Previous feedback from other vintagers like me who wore transistor receivers and liked this new version convinced me to take the risk...and I'm glad I did. Over 20 years ago I had a beloved Radio Shack Realistic digital radio that was stolen when my wife borrowed it for use at the gym. ). I live in a valley that makes it difficult to get good reception from even nearby AM and FM stations, and I was very surprised at the sensitivity of this unit, which was able to tune into stations that my larger, more expensive radios couldn't (Sony, Sangean, Radio Shack, CCrane, etc.). Retractable antennas were a must as I don't want to be tied to wired headphones. The orange backlight evoked a sense of nostalgia. The sleep timer is very useful when you go to bed. There are three dedicated buttons for programming your favorite AM or FM stations, and you can automatically scroll up or down preset stations without looking at the display. The speaker is clean (I mostly listen to talk radio) and the volume/tuning is controlled from various angles with a traditional thumbwheel. Can't comment on battery life or long term reliability yet... and the only thing I would like would be a lanyard... plus I now have my new favorite radio!
