I have a dark brown leather sofa. I wasn't too concerned about blacking out my sofa, but I checked in the back corner. It can be applied like liquid car wax, but without cloudiness. Before applying the product, I made sure to wipe the sofa with a damp cloth and then with a dry cloth. I used the applicator, let it sit for a minute or two, and then wiped it off. I would do one section at a time. I probably should have used more of the product but I didn't want to overdo it. My couch is about a year old so not a huge difference (it's still wet) but it gave it a little more shine. All in all, this will be part of my routine. It has a slight odor but I like it. It went away within a day and I almost had to put my nose to the skin.
