Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ Wireless Convenience: Logitech Cordless Internet Handset for Seamless Connectivity by Frank Alejo

Good phone, only for Win32 systems.

I really like this phone but have decided to buy a GE - SKYPE - Dect 6.0 cordless phone after owning it for a week. The main downside is the need for a Windows PC running XP32 or VISTA 32. Logitech's technical support was useless and then disappeared when trying to use a 64-bit system, which came as a surprise to Logitech. I have a server that's always running, so having the computer on all the time wasn't a big deal. Going to a 32-bit operating system was a killer. This phone goes to my office. Sound quality and range are very good. I have a two story house with a block in the basement that I could easily use around the house and yard. If you have a solid internet connection good enough for Skype, you're ready to ditch the phone company. In my office, I have a Vonage with a dedicated phone-only connection. I can use this in my office over a regular connection when connected to my computer with no chirps or disconnects. Vonage boxes won't do it. Also, it's a lot cheaper. A pretty cool plus is that the phone is the same no matter what Skype account the computer is logged into. It's nice to be able to switch lines just by changing your login. Battery life isn't great, but if you keep it on a charging dock it's not a deal breaker. This isn't a cell phone. The main downside for me is the lack of support for Linux or other 64-bit operating systems. EDIT: A few days later, Logitech responded with a fix for the 64-bit issue. This is for running the MS Compatibility Manager. This solves the problem with 64-bit operating systems. If they had acted sooner, I would not have bought GE. I am happy now.
