I have used the Brita filter (faucet filtration system) continuously for 5-10 years and have found it to be good value for money. Yes, there are some issues, but I can live with that. I have read various reviews of this product. In my experience the filter lasts about 2 1/2 months (we use it a lot) and then I change it out. It has a pressure sensitive display. If the pressure increases during use (filter system clogged with debris, etc.), the small window mechanically changes color from green to half green/red and finally to full red, indicating that the filter needs to be replaced. After 2 filter changes I replace the lower unit (filter system) - technique is not the best but works satisfactorily. It has some minor leaks, probably due to bad seals. Also, the selector knob is becoming increasingly difficult to turn due to poor seal design and solute settling, but regular replacement of the base unit will solve this problem. There are 2 important variables here: water pressure and the level of sediment/solids/solutes in the local water supply. If it were available I would rate this product 4 1/2 stars.
