First of all, this mount is bigger and stronger than I expected, great! I recently bought a Striker 4 sonar for my Outcast pontoon and needed to install an FF and transducer. I had an old Scotty rod holder base that hadn't been used so I bought it. I sacrificed a kitchen cutting board (about 3/8 inch thick) to create a slightly larger platform and installed the FF on top and a piece of aluminum rod on the bottom. The pole (1/8 inch thick) extends slightly beyond the pontoon and then bends down 90 degrees into the water. The transducer is mounted on another part of the aluminum rod that simply bolts to the first part, making it easy to remove. I was thinking of using a PVC pipe to mount the transducer but it has a lot more resistance than the end of the rod. It made its first flight and it worked better than I had hoped. I am using a 12V Lithium Ion Port Freight starter power pack for the battery. It's 12Ah, has no minimum power consumption, weighs next to nothing and keeps the FF going forever. So I am very happy with this Scotty mount as it is the perfect platform for what I needed to build.
