This is the perfect permanent solution to situational problems. I have younger children and the fact that these gates are easy to install by COMING into my office is great. The corridor is very wide, so JOYHI's 6ft range was ideal. I now work from home so these gates have been removed to signal family that I am working and should not come and disrupt - business calls and webcam meetings. I like the easy install, but the permanent install part gave me pause. In the end it was the perfect solution to have a RELIABLE solution to my interrupt problem. This works well with small dogs too, for which I also open the gate, when my brother comes with his dog I don't want them to enter the hallway/office. TIP: Just take your time and INSTALL it properly, follow the instructions. and use LASER LINER or Bubble Line. I have personally updated and use my own head screw. I went with a metal anchor to make sure it was the last one and I didn't get ripped out of the wall for some unknown reason. TIP 2: Retractable! So for my situation I have a "hallway dresser" that hides most of the sliding gate. I installed them a little farther from the corner so I can hide them easier!
