I bought this to attach some metal buttons to a cosplay faux leather I was working on. Everyone appreciates this brand so I had high hopes for this product. It was a little strange to understand (but maybe it was just that I was in a hurry to finish). I set up the tool as shown in the instructions and prayed, not sure if it would penetrate fabric as thick as leather upholstery, but to my great surprise it did! I had to squeeze it hard to make sure it went through properly, but for the most part it worked pretty well. Pierced skin and buttons stayed put all day (you need them to stay closed for a decent 10 hours). I had no problem with the clasps not holding all day (even putting the cuffs on and off, which I did several times). However, I had some trouble holding the buttons in the tool to align them with the fabric as they sometimes slipped out of the tool. It was uncomfortable, and maybe it was just human error. Overall, however, I would recommend this product to anyone looking to insert buttons into thin or even thicker fabrics. The skin may seem to tighten a bit, but with enough pressure you can make it stay!
