Awesome Home Network Update

I was becoming more and more frustrated with the performance of my AT&T 2Wire home gateway. The router had poor WiFi coverage and was slow, so I decided to take a chance with the Orbi after researching a few mesh systems. I have a 2000 SF 2 story house and chose an RBK 30. The AT&T gateway is at one end of the house with an ethernet connection to a switch upstairs and an additional second modem downstairs at the opposite end of the house. I replaced the upstairs switch with an Orbi router (which has additional Ethernet ports) and placed the downstairs satellite at the opposite end of the house. The satellite has a reliable connection to the router. Setting up the Orbi was easy and the instructions were clear. The only thing missing was information on how to turn off WIFI on AT&T gateway, but a quick web search turned up several places where I could find details on how to do this. The performance was just amazing. I like a single SSID for the whole house. The improvement in wireless network performance is much better than I expected, and even my desktop using Orbi's Ethernet connection (instead of a switch) showed a performance improvement. Mesh networks don't come cheap, but if you're looking to improve the performance of your network, this is a great option.
