I have this suit for protection from the relative cold of Lake Michigan when I swim and fall in the summer. When the wind blows from the east, we have warmer surface waters in Chicago and the North Shore, averaging about 70 degrees Fahrenheit from July through early October. But if I swim 45 minutes to an hour I get chills and this suit prevents that. It's not exactly a wetsuit material, but it's thick enough and fits well to keep a layer of heated water close to your skin . It also protects from the sun when you are at the beach as it has long sleeves and covers most of the flesh. It seems to fit true to size, although I ordered to make sure it wasn't compressed.
