The pens are a little shorter than expected, but whether it's 4", 3" or 100, they stick out of my hand when I write. The shock was that they are not waterproof and they bleed. As I maintained the humidity, a drop of condensation fell onto my paper, and my notes looked like a starry night. The ink is thick and will bleed (by itself) through regular printer paper when you pause or write slowly. Enjoy everything about pens except the need to be a wet babysitter - I can handle that and now you know.
