Keep the button pressed and it goes through the foil*, sinks into the cork, lifts the cork out of the bottle. Press the button again and the cork will fall down, making it easy for you to pick it up and throw it away. Very easy. * Husband doesn't think it's meant to go through foil and thinks I might be overusing it if I do. Instead, he recommends using the included foil cutter. He may be right, but my way works too. I think it depends if you are a pragmatic person or someone who likes to walk on the wild side. :)
