Cheap & flimsy; Colors don’t erase well! 👎🏼

I got this for my 18M old son. I was really torn between this one and one of the glowing Crayola ones, which was more expensive. I decided to go with this one, but I’m glad I opened it prior to giving it to him as a gift. It is SO cheap! Not only is it oddly big and awkward, but it feels really flimsy and the first thing my son did was stand on it (since I decided I’d probably return it, I didn’t mind him seeing it). If he stood on it a few more times, I’m pretty sure it would snap in half. I decided to test it out, and the colors are pretty cool, but they don’t erase very well. It’s a lot like an Etch-a-Sketch, with a magnetized coloring wand and magnetized shape stamps. I really like the stamp idea, because it helps teach kids about shapes and colors. It’s not as randomized when you color as it looks in the pictures. There’s basically blocks of color underneath the white drawing board, which show up as you draw. If you end up coloring the whole thing (which is easy to do by sliding one of the shape stamps around), it basically looks like squares of colors. Not quite as unique as I was expecting. We weren’t ever able to fully erase the first few lines that we drew on there either.Because it’s so large, I don’t think this would make sense to take in the car or travel with. It’s pretty cool to have a play room, if the quality were better. The shape stamps are a good size, so I don’t think my toddler would swallow them (but since they’re magnets, be very careful!).Sadly, this just doesn’t make sense for the price. I’d rather spend $5-10 more and get a higher quality drawing board from a brand I trust, like Crayola (theirs is also a smaller size which fits on a highchair table). We will be returning this. Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful. 😉

Pros
  • Easy to erase, but stamps were quickly lost.
Cons
  • The pen is too short for some kids' hands to grip comfortably
