Review on πŸ”† TOPGREENER TDHS5-N Humidity Sensor Switch: Automated Control for Bathroom Fan, Adjustable Timing, UL Listed - White by Rick Gondoras

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Working but limited

I bought this to replace the Wi-Fi switch that was triggered by the Wi-Fi humidity sensor. I was expecting - it didn't seem to work, and eventually I reset it to default. IF you manually control the fan switch THEN run it on a timed pattern (20 minutes I think) if you manually turn it off I think we might be tripping over the ugly and messing up the auto-detect settings - MAYBE I'm wrong - I didn't get it. We've found that it works best if you use it manually and then turn it off. My understanding is if it runs for 20 minutes and the humidity is still high, will it shut down for 2? minutes and then turn it back on (maybe it's 5). I don't know why they developed this cycle. Sometimes it works for 20 minutes, turns off briefly and then turns on again. I found you can breathe on it to turn it on. Why breathe on it? I was just fooling around. I don't think this design deserves a 5 star rating but it's a good 4 - the instructions could have been written a lot better - I couldn't figure out what the RED light means when it's on or cycling in auto mode . Maybe the instructions say so - All of this suggests that I've been doing home automation since the early 2000s and have settled on this switch and not attempting to use a smart switch. I didn't find a great solution and this was my compromise. I may try a different brand to see if I can get better results. Might buy this brand again though
