That was the ticket. My 2000 Recon died idling and ran intermittently. I started cleaning the old one thinking that for $26 I could save myself a lot of trouble. The old carburettor was changed in 20 minutes and works like new. I only had to make some adjustments to the idle screw. *Update* It's been a year since I bought it, but it's still $25. HOWEVER the float at the bottom of this carburetor is VERY cheap. I say CHEAP cheap. It's thin and barely lasted a year. It's cheap plastic that's warped or something, so there's gas coming out of the overflow pipe. It's ok, I had a replacement carburetor and I removed the float - it worked perfectly. So my advice, keep the float from your old carburetor, you will need it. Otherwise, it's a great carb.
