No heat is supplied, the device does not heat up. Easy to use. yes plug in Thickness. Not intrusive. I was concerned that I bought a night light. The instructions say to expect more activity first, full protection after 3 weeks. I'm glad they explained that the activity gets worse before it gets better. I've been using it in my open plan living room, kitchen, dining room and entryway for a little over a month now. I find the square footage more than recommended, but it definitely helped. I will order another one for the outside area and one for the other space (the wall in between). My fluffy babies don't react to it at all. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the "heat" issue. I like the idea that something plugged in doesn't get hot.
