Review on πŸ”’ 4-Piece Set of Silver Tone Draw Toggle Latches for Box Chest Case with Spring Loaded Mechanism by uxcell by Jay Kowal

Needed to replace missing latches

I have the blow molded plastic case that came with the Brother label printer. The bars were cast into the lid. Their "hinges" were micro-thin and soon broke due to plastic fatigue. Bad design. I had to press the lid onto the base. These toggle switches offer a very durable "hook" style. The clip you hold to release the lock also has a spring. This spring holds the thumb latch until you pull it up. Other latches like this rely on cam action over center, and inadvertent pressure can dislodge the latch. They have two mounting holes under the thumb latch that accept rivets or 1/8" screws/bolts about 1" apart. I used rivets as the blown case did not allow easy access to the inner wall. After installing the latch I figured out where it would be best to place the hook and cut a slit in the cover so the wire with the hook was inserted in it. Works perfectly. Now I have a shop that is closed. A spring in the thumb latch keeps the latch closed until I intentionally lift the tab and pull the hook out of the hole. On the other hand, if the lid is thin enough, the hook could reach the edge.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
