I've already lost a few cadence sensors due to poor Garmin construction. However, there is relief. The sensor is nothing more than a strong magnet surrounded by a plastic shell. Instead of spending another ten bucks, this time I took a rare earth magnet and just attached it to the pedal axle (which is made of steel) and aligned it with the main reader. Voila, it worked just as well as a Garmin sensor! If I lose it again, I'll just put another magnet in for pennies. I hope this saves someone $10.
