First of all, the part is not made of brass. Looks like galvanized steel. The ball is made of plastic. The white washer/ring is too hard on the gray collar and mating threads on the sink drain. I removed it, everything works and is holding up well. Overall it works and fits my 1.25" drain line perfectly. I used the procedure for installing a drain pan under the drain line, removing the siphon, removing the swivel rod, and removing the vertical adjustment rod. Delete everything. Use a brush. clean the drain. Wipe the pivot rod hole with a paper towel. Plug in plug, plug in swivel rod. Attach the vertical adjustment bar slightly. siphon present. Wipe everything. Enjoy your updated sink like there's no tomorrow.
