Review on πŸ“Έ Enhanced Veho VFS-008 Smartfix Stand Alone Slide and Negative Scanner (35mm & 110mm) with SD Scanning Feature by Pressure Cook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really good product for the price.

My 5-star rating reflects the characteristics defined by this scanner. This is not a professional high-resolution scanner. Rather, it scans slides, color and black-and-white negatives quickly and easily. The quality is equivalent to a negative or slide taken with a professional 35mm camera, but it's still usable. As an example, I'm attaching a photo from a black and white Tri-X negative from 1969.1. My device comes with a video cable to connect the scanner to a composite TV or video monitor. I have not used this function.2. The scanner charges when connected to a PC or laptop. This is slow loading. I found that the included cable connected easily to the charging dongle that came with my phone. It loads much faster.3. The files are numbered consecutively on the SD card. After deleting all files, the numbers start again at 0001.4. The scanner had a setting for 126 slides or negatives, which I don't have, but I bet it will fit in the slide drawer used for 35mm slides. Just a guess.5. A cleaning tool is included and I found it needed frequent use as I was scanning really dirty slides from the 1950's and 60's.6. The software comes with it, but I used Faststone to adjust the image.7. Brightness and contrast were excellent for most of my work. I rotated vertical frames with Faststone. Also, some of the older slides had color shifts and I corrected the color balance with Faststone. Almost any photo software should work just fine. The SD card I received was 4GB. So I am satisfied with my purchase. I used to have a Plustek scanner that was higher quality but many times more expensive. In addition, Plustek needed four times the time for each scan. If you need acceptable quality images at an affordable price, the Veho scanner is for you.
