Our pug weighs about 15.5 pounds. Pugs overheat easily, so we usually take them on walks in a dog buggy so they can be shaded and not have to run all the time. We went on a hike in terrain that was unsuitable for a stroller, so we bought this backpack. she loved it! We sat her down and opened the back door so she could see outside. Her husband carried her on his back for a mile and a half. She just sat there and watched the whole time. She made no fuss and tried not to jump out. My husband found the bag comfortable. Our dog also found it comfortable as it has a durable bottom with a soft inner lining which is easy for him to sit on. She never seemed upset or annoyed. She was fine even when everything was closed. It has mesh sides, top and front so you can zip it up fully but still allow the pet to see and breathe. Once we knew she was fine and wouldn't try to jump out, we opened the lid so she could stick her head out. We are very happy with this purchase. I would suggest looking at the dimensions of the bag and then measuring your dog while he is sitting to see if the dog will sit comfortably. Pugs are compact so she fits perfectly despite her weight. A large dog may not fit.
