Read the instructions first.

I live in Wyoming where the winters are severe, especially when it's -40 and below. My 2006 Chevrolet Silverado is partially outdoors where it takes the brunt of the cold. Moving here, I realized early on that having a battery service technician is essential in these harsh environments. For the past 12 years, I've relied on my truck for 32-mile trips to get supplies for my ranch. I have never had a battery problem since hooking up this battery tender and the battery is original equipment that came with the truck. I bought an extra maintainer just in case but never had to use it. Bad thing and a word of caution. The wires are thin and a bit brittle so be careful when moving around as the wires can easily break inside and it's considered useless, especially in winter. The good thing is that it's amorphous which means this item doesn't need full sun to be effective, all it takes is a good day, as long as it's overcast and overcast it will still work. A notice. . . Before connecting a solar power saver, make sure the battery is in good condition and fully charge the battery to be the most reliable as this is NOT a charger but a voltage booster.
