Best Value Kit

I needed to replace the front wheel bearings and hubs on my 2002 Maxim and didn't want to pay the shop $700 to do it. The factory service manual recommends using a 5 ton press to remove and install the bearings. Forget it. A lot of other kits I looked at were hub taming kits worth over $400, which is way more than I was willing to spend. So I bought the OTC hub puller and this all trade kit, both together cost less than $200. I have to say that overall the kit is of good quality for the price range. Of course, you could pay three to five times more for other, more established brands, but for a weekend mechanic, this kit is more than enough. One of the bearings was spinning so hard it broke in half when I pulled the hub out, so I knew I'd have a good time trying to turn it off. Unlike the previous reviewer who said the bolt broke off, I didn't have this problem. The screw showed no signs of adverse thread wear. Just make sure the adapter and receiver line up so you don't hit the knuckle. Although this kit is not advertised as such, I have also been able to use it to install new hubs into bearings. Just use one of the adapters to attach the back of the bearing and the other adapter to the hub and you're good to go. Be sure to lightly lubricate the bearing outer race and hub with clean oil before installation to make the process easier. This kit, along with my 26 gallon compressor and pistol, was faster than my buddy Matco's setup with a 220v IR air compressor. If you need to replace your pressed FWD bearings, BUY THIS KIT. Just make sure you do it right and you should see great results!
