I have been using Aquaclear filters for quite some time and my oldest 50 gallon filter had serious problems. A crust has formed on the impeller and in the place where it should spin. This prevented him from moving. No matter how much I scrubbed and cleaned, the impeller would not function smoothly. It's time for another. I bought this 70 gallon filter impeller because I never liked the 50 gallon filter impeller. It always clogged the tube too easily and I didn't feel like they were strong enough. I had an extra filter on hand so I replaced the motor (which is the same for all sizes up to 70) to be sure. having a smooth finish and putting the only impeller I had - 30 gallons. This caused some cloud issues so I changed it to 70 when I got it and voila! It works like a dream. Over time I plan to replace my other 50s with this balance bike. RESULTS Replacing my impeller in my 50 gallon filter with this 70 gallon impeller has made my filter job MUCH better. Eventually I feel like he has a good flow and is stronger which I think he should have been from the start. Now my tank feels MUCH better. I double filtered it so I plan on replacing the other 50 with the same 70 gallon impeller.
