I'm by no means an expert on candle making, but I've spent several years in the candle industry. Wooden wicks are finicky by nature and require more maintenance and adjustment than a regular wick. I've found this to be true across the board from high end candles to cheap finds so make sure you research them before using them and giving a bad review.
