This is a category of devices where you don't expect durability or an extremely high level of construction. However, Macally was a pleasant surprise, so much so that after my wife saw mine, she dropped hers and asked me to buy her one. Two side "hands" hold the phone. I don't drive off-road, but under normal driving conditions nothing could free the phone. The suction cup can sometimes be a problem with gluing (I have to wet the rubber very well otherwise everything will not stick), but if it lasts it stays attached for months. I was worried the rubber would go bad in the California sun, but I've left the windshield on for months without even removing it and it works great. The same goes for winter, although the winters he experiences here are nothing compared to real winters in the country. Keep in mind that this is still a cheap plastic product so expect some rattling when the phone is not on the stand. This usually only happens when there are no potholes or when the road is particularly rough. Not that the noise is enough to drown out a conversation, but if you have a particularly quiet car it's noticeable when it happens.
