This is a sturdy white metal gate with nice mounting brackets and gray plastic corners. It is designed to be screwed into the door frame but is only very strong with the included screw tension brackets. I use mine as a dog guard, not for children, and the instructions that came with it warn you to use a child-safe screw mount. The downside of this gate is the latch. Inconvenient to use. To open the latch you have to use the sliding thumb latch and lift it at the same time, which is inconvenient as the spring is sticky and doesn't move smoothly. Closing the latch requires the same motion, plus some force to line it up properly. The plastic of the latch is flimsy and not as strong as the rest of the gate and with all the extra movement required to make it work I don't expect the latch to last as long as the metal gate itself. Adjustable mounting brackets with screw design allow the gate to fit snugly in the doorway, ideal for old or new homes with different doorway sizes. I believe extensions are available if you need a wider door cover but I'm wary of investing in these gates as the latch can fail prematurely.
